Everyone has those days. When things don’t go your way and you feel isolated and alone. Perhaps you even feel abandoned by God at these points in your life.
We want to quit at that point because we are sure that no one even God understands our needs or will fill them. At this point, there is little to grab on to when we feel we have done all we could and it wasn’t enough. Things are falling apart and everyone seems to be going in a different direction, leaving us alone.
Isaiah 26 can give us a new focus:
3You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.4Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.
The Message version reads:
People with their minds set on you, you keep completely whole, Steady on their feet, because they keep at it and don’t quit. Depend on God and keep at it because in the Lord God you have a sure thing.
At these points in your life, as hard as it is, go back to the Scriptures and search for His counsel. Keep your mind on Him and don’t quit. Christian music will help you fill up and bring you past these times if you are willing to take some time to listen to it.
Taking care of yourself is another key component. As important as being in the Word and filling yourself with His message is, there is a time when sleep, food, exercise all may be needed to get you on track physically. When we wallow in our worries and skip what we need physically, we end up feeding the problem.
It is at this time when I need the reminders from friends and family that maybe I just need to put my life and concerns in His hands and take a nap, eat lunch, or go for a long walk. As I took a nap today since my clients are both late today and I wanted to be fresh, I listened to this sermon from Pastor Tim, Motivation for Ministry
You might need the same things.
