Someday? Be a Doer Now and Go For It

Nothing will happen to you in life if you’re just sitting around.  The phrase ‘opportunity is knocking at your door’ only rings true if you’re putting in the effort.

I doubt anyone has ever gained success by sitting on the couch and suddenly great opportunities knocked on the front door like the pizza guy.

Someday…

We’ve all said, “Someday I’m gonna…” what have you filled in the blank?

“…get my dream job.”

“…lose weight.”

“…run a marathon.”

“…write a book.”

“…run for office.”

“…go to school.”

“…get married.”

“…plant a garden.”

Be a Doer

But that someday will never come if you’re butt stays planted on the couch.  Dreams are great, but nothing will come of them if you don’t become a doer.

Here are some great excuses why we may never become doers:

I’m too busy.

I’m not smart enough.

I’m not creative enough.

I’m not good enough.

Success happens to others but not me.

I’m not worthy enough.

The chances aren’t in my favor.

So are any of those excuses ones that ring true for you?  I know I’ve made them.

There Are Haters Out There

Now here’s the kicker.  There will be people in your life that don’t want you to succeed.

Yes, that’s right.

Some of them are just haters, but some of them are people that love you.  People are always threatened when someone in the tribe shakes things up and goes for dreams.  They’re comfortable with where you’re at now.

How many times have you heard about someone trying to lose weight, only to have their family sabotage their efforts?

Or someone trying to pursue something and their family says, “That’s not for you.”

Our sinful nature makes us envious of those around us who rise up and succeed at something.  It makes them feel insecure and they want to keep you at their level.

Don’t listen.

Keep moving forward.

Don’t give up.

2 Chronicles 15:7 encourages us, “But as for you be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”
