Sermon by Rev. Sue Lee, D.Min., July 26, 2015
Scripture: Hebrews 13:1-2; Matthew 25:31-40
Pastor Sue speaks of being a stranger in a strange place and shares her own story of first coming to the United States and beginning in DuBuque, Iowa. For the first time, she was in the minority after coming from Korea where she was the majority.
How are you? is a phrase with three little words that so often is answered with “fine, thank you.” For the newcomer or stranger in a strange place or church, all may not be fine, thank you but no one really wants to hear the real story. When you ask “How are you?” and really expect a true answer, it helps the other person stop feeling like a stranger.
Pastor Sue shared a video clip with the “Tale of two churches.” The message is to treat every stranger as if they were Jesus. It changes everything.
