Guests are always welcome at Wesley United Methodist Church!
If you are new to Wesley, you will be welcomed warmly. We are a worshiping community that is centered on loving, helping, and extending God’s compassion in Wausau and throughout the world.
As we serve God and proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ in our community and throughout the world, we embody the gospel of salvation together with our brothers and sisters in Christ who are also serving the Lord.
If we can be of any assistance to you or your family; as a newcomer to the community or looking for a new church home, please let us know!
Sunday School for children begins right after children’s time on Sunday morning. Adults meet at 8:45 for Sunday school. Our school year begins the Sunday after Labor Day.
Worship service is at 10 am. Please come and be our guest.
Here is some of what happens here at church:
Wesley is blessed with many talented musicians and you will hear them on Sundays. We invite you to come and enjoy them – and join us in singing praises on Sunday mornings!
Communion is generally a part of our Sunday service on the first Sunday of the month and major holidays. We celebrate Open Communion at Wesley United Methodist Church. All who believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God may receive the Lord’s Supper with us, regardless of religious background or church membership.
Time for Children
Every Sunday we feature “Time for Children”, a special time when your children can join others and participate in an interactive lesson delivered by our staff or volunteers. The children join the leader at the front of the service and you get to listen to the lesson as they help the leader illustrate the message.
Our church is handicapped-accessible using a motor-assisted door and elevator. We have multiple handicapped parking spots as well as other handicapped assistance devices within the church for those who need it.
In addition, if you are using a wheelchair, we can help you with our specialized pew area designed to fit your wheelchair and you. We customized several areas in the front of the church with shortened pews so you can remain in your chair.
Children are always welcome in our services but if you have a child who is very unhappy, you might want to use our “Cry Room.” This room is just a short distance from our worship center and is equipped with a speaker so you can listen to the service while taking care of your baby or small child.
Your children may not want to sit through the whole service. Perhaps they would like to stay through the Time for Young Disciples and then go to the nursery area which is staffed by parents and volunteers. If you would enjoy the service more if they were in the nursery, you can also use the nursery for the full service.
If you are one of those of us who need some help hearing the service, we have specialized equipment to help you listen. See an usher at the back of the church who will help you find the equipment and teach you to use it.
One more option for those who struggle to get up and down during the service or have bad backs. We have purchased several very comfortable gliding rockers for those who need them and placed them in various areas and the back of the church.
